Carer Card Terms and Conditions

About the Carer Card

Lanarkshire Carers Carer Card is provided to unpaid carers over the age of 18 who are known to Lanarkshire Carers and who provide substantial care to the person(s) they care for.

The Carer Card remains the property of Lanarkshire Carers and is valid for a period of 12 months; at which time it can be renewed by the carer. Use of the card is subject to these terms and conditions.

All carers requesting a Carer Card for the first time may be able to access up to 8 weeks free membership to local leisure facilities. Eligibility criteria applies and current members of leisure schemes are excluded. Please contact us for more information.

Carers who no longer provide unpaid care due to a change in their circumstances are entitled to continue using the Carer Card for a period of 3 months after notifying Lanarkshire Carers of any such changes.

All Carer Cards are issued with photographic identification, a start date, an expiry date and a card issue number. The Carer card can be used for identification purposes and should only be used by the card holder in conjunction with any discount or service offered by Lanarkshire Carers and/or Carer Card Scheme Providers.

We reserve the right to change the appearance and conditions of the Carer Card, or withdraw the Carer Card Scheme at any time. 

If you experience any difficulty in using your Carers Card then please let us know immediately so that we can try to resolve the issue. 

If you have lost or misplaced your Carer Card, please contact Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Hamilton on 01698 428090 or Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Airdrie on 01236 755550 and a replacement card can be issued. There may be a charge for issuing replacement cards.

Misuse of Card

Lanarkshire Carers and Carer Card Scheme Providers have the right to refuse or withhold any Carer Card if we suspect it is being used inappropriately or fraudulently. 

Lanarkshire Carers and Carer Card Scheme Providers reserve the right not to provide goods and services offered under the terms and conditions of this agreement if no card is presented or if a card is invalid.

Carer Card Scheme Providers

Carer Card Scheme Providers agree to provide the goods and services detailed within the agreement made with us to any person(s) in receipt of a valid Carer Card issued by Lanarkshire Carers.

In providing these goods and services, Carer Card Scheme Providers agree to do so in a way that does not constitute inappropriate, offensive, discriminatory, illegal, fraudulent, harmful or unlawful behaviour or practice. Lanarkshire Carers reserves the right to report any such wrongdoing to relevant governing bodies and/or authorities.

Lanarkshire Carers cannot recommend or endorse the products, services or commercial offerings of any third party. By giving you information on our website about the providers or services, we are merely providing you with an opportunity to find out more about the special offers available to carers which may be of interest. These offers may change from time to time without advanced warning. Lanarkshire Carers does not accept any liability for any content held on Carer Card Scheme Providers websites or publicity materials. Any web links are correct at the time of going live. If a web link is broken on our website, please let us know.

Use of Personal Information

Lanarkshire Carers will store and process information regarding you as a Carer Card holder on our system in line with our Privacy Policy.

Carers requesting or in receipt of a digital card for use on a smartphone device - this service is provided by our third party supplier 'Cuseum, Inc' using their proprietary software application to deliver a digital card to your smartphone device. Your carer card information (name, card number, expiry date and photograph) and email address is shared with 'Cuseum, Inc' by Lanarkshire Carers via a secure online portal for the sole purpose of delivering and administering the digital card on your device. Digital carer card holders are notified by email using the cuseum system on behalf of Lanarkshire Carers. The digital card is accessed by the end user through the 'Wallet' application pre-installed on an Apple device, or by downloading and installing the 'Wallet Passes' application on an Andoid device through the Google Play Store. Your information will be handled in line with GDPR and relevant data protection laws and will not be used for any other purpose. Please notify us at your earliest convenience if your personal details or caring circumstances change.

We encourage Carer Card Scheme Providers not to capture any personal information regarding you, the Carer Card holder, unless it is necessary to do so for the type of goods and services they are providing. If they do capture any personal information about you, they must do so with your explicit consent. 

Lanarkshire Carers cannot and will not provide any personal information regarding Carer Card holders to Carer Card Scheme Providers without your explicit consent to do so. Any such request must be made to us in writing.

Changes to these terms and conditions

We reserve the right to change the terms and conditions of this agreement at any time. If we do so we will notify you in writing at least 30 days before making any such changes, providing details of the changes made.
