We run a number of different activities and events for Young Adult Carers throughout the year. Please expand the list below for more details of upcoming events and activities:
These workshops give Young Adult Carers the chance to get professional tuition with a range of state of the art instruments, recording equipment and video editing software! The workshops are really laid-back and as well as learning to play new instruments you can relax and meet other Young Adult Carers who understand your caring role (and eat FREE pizza). The workshops will usually include a session at a recording studio and the chance to record a CD.
Below is a video of a session at the recording studio:
Quotes from previous Reeltime Workshops:
“Music brings people together. This is a genius idea to give people some time out. Keep up the good work and let me come back please!”
“It’s been great to meet up with other people who are in a similar situation. When I first heard about it I just thought it was going to be music lessons. I’m glad I tried it because it was nothing like I expected, it’s been great and if you can keep doing it you can help a lot of other carers.”
If you are interested in attending activities such as these workshops, please contact Lanarkshire Carers Centre on 01698 428090.
Social groups place an emphasis on giving Young Adult Carers respite from their caring role. The group will usually relax, chat and discuss any issues they may have. It also allows Young Adult Carers to discuss other activities and trips they would like to organise through the project:
